October is National Cyber Security Awareness Month (NCSAM)
STOP. THINK.CONNECT
What is “Cyber Security”? Also referred to as information technology security, cyber security focuses on protecting computers, networks, programs, and data from unintended or unauthorized access, change, or destruction.
Each of us leads an internet-connected, digital life, whether we realize it or not, and each of us is responsible to make sure our online life is safe and secure. This can include anything from using strong usernames and passwords, to making sure that our own private networks, or networks we are accessing in public locations, are secure, to keeping a clean computer free from viruses and malware. All of this can seem overwhelming and scary and that is why the U.S. Department of Homeland Security and the National Cyber Security Alliance (NCSA) have worked together to spearhead this cyber security campaign.
NCSAM is an annual campaign to raise awareness about the importance of cybersecurity, and they provide tools and resources needed to stay safe online. We have included links to valuable resources because your security is important to us.
The U.S. Department of Homeland Security has gathered some vital information and you can access it by clicking here.
The National Cyber Security Alliance (NCSA) also powers a robust website called StaySafeOnline.
STOP: make sure security measures are in place.
THINK: about the consequences of your actions and behaviors online.
CONNECT: and enjoy the internet.
